[font=宋体][size=9pt]安全应该分为人身安全和经济安全。在人身安全方面，与在办公室上班和在农田里耕作相比，船员职业不是很安全，但与常见的道路汽车运输相比船员职业是安全的；近年来由于船舶大型化、设备先进化、管理的规范化、使航运安全得到越来越可靠的保证，只要船员熟练掌握业务技能，严格按安全规章办事，船员职业是安全的，但如果你滥竽充数或者违章操作，船员职业同任何职业一样都是有不安全因素的。在经济安全方面，对一个白手起家的创业者或者一个要积累资金再创业的普通人来讲，投入[/size][/font][size=9pt][font=Times New Roman]4-5[/font][/size][font=宋体][size=9pt]万元即可有年十几万元以上的收入，船员职业是安全的。[/size][/font][size=9pt][/size]

[font=宋体][size=9pt]很多人觉得船员工作很累，实际从体力付出方面衡量，船员比普通工人和汽车驾驶员要轻松的多。因为船员在船只负责航行值班、船舶设备日常维护、开关舱和船舶离靠码头操作等工作。货物装卸和船舶定期维修等劳动强度大的工作分别由码头和船厂工人负责。而航行值班和开关舱等传统意义上的“重”体力工作，目前都实现了机械、电气、液压或微机自动化，很多船舶还配有自动舵和无人职守机舱，大大减轻了船员的工作强度。在船员生活条件方面更是超乎很多普通人的想象，船员生活条件宾馆化已是当前造船的总趋势，单人房间、中央（或分体）空调、健身娱乐、报刊杂志、免费食宿等设施和待遇应有尽有。[/size][/font][size=9pt][/size]
